Cross country skiing in the Dolomites

Enjoy the quiet of nature undisturbed on the cross country tracks

  • Cross country skiing on the Alpe di Siusi
  • Monte Pana S. Cristina in winter
  • Paragliders over the Monte Pana in the winter

Cross country skiers can find the absolute quiet and undisturbed life in nature far away from the slopes and crowds in Vallunga, a valley which stretches out north-eastwards from Selva into the Puez-Odle nature park, at approx. 1 km from the Garni. At the beginning of the valley there’s also the office of the Ski and Cross country school of Selva, which also functions as meeting point and ski deposit. There’s also a cross country ski rental.

In the first part of Vallunga you can find short cross country tracks which are recommended for beginners. The 5 km training track is rather for experienced cross country skiers. For a longer cross country tour there is a 10 km loop up to the end of Vallunga, the „Pra da Rì Meadow“ in an amazing mountain scenery.

On Monte Pana (St. Christina, at about 20 minutes by car from Garni Hotel Arya Alpine Lodge) there is a Cross Country Centre and numerous possibilities for hobby cross country skiers and racers: there are 2,5 km, 3,3 km, 3,75 km, 5 km and 7,5 km tracks.

Another cross country skiing paradise is the Alpe di Siusi (reachable from Ortisei by cable car) with well-prepared tracks in the wonderful landscapes of the Dolomites in the Alps of Italy.
